Born in Providence, RI, the beloved son of the late Robert J. and Harriet P. (Neinchel) Kavanagh, Michael was raised in Foxborough and Belmont and was a 1977 graduate of Belmont High School.
Michael went on to work for the family businesses in the restaurant and automotive industries.
Michael was a loving husband, father, uncle and cousin and will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He loved his family deeply. Some of his favorite times were in the company of his family and friends. He enjoyed a good story, a great laugh, fishing, the beach and a home cooked meal. Michael loved to travel and especially loved his trips to Ireland to see relatives, friends and the Kavanagh castle.
In addition to his wife and son, Michael is survived by his three siblings; Nancy K. Mirtle and her husband, Roderick of Waterford, CT, Susan K. Carey of Marstons Mills and Robert J. Kavanagh, Jr. of Cohasset; and their families.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 17 in Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth.
Interment will follow in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth.
Visiting hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday Feb. 16 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.
